Long before Elemental Van Co existed, we learned much about the value of space when we plunged headfirst into living aboard a 30-foot sailboat. When your entire world fits into a narrow 17’ foot cabin, you learn fast what actually matters. Every inch has to earn its place. Every solution has to be smart, simple, and built to handle real life in motion.
Eventually we traded the boat for a house and welcomed three kids into the mix — but the pull toward simple living never left us. As we began homeschooling and dreaming about life on the road with the 5 of us, we found ourselves solving the same problems all over again: how do you make a small space work hard for a big family? How do you design for function without sacrificing comfort, or comfort without sacrificing sanity?
That question became an obsession, and that obsession became Elemental Van Co.
We design smart spaces for people who want more adventure and less friction — parts and systems built by people who've actually lived the constraints, not just studied them. From a sailboat cabin to a family home to the vans we build today, our approach hasn't changed: simplify, optimize, and make room for what matters most.
